My story.
Welcome to this labor of love!
My name is Marcy Moreland, and I'm an interior designer, Licensed General Contractor and product designer. I live in Whitefish Bay and have a blended family of 8- that's a total of 6 children! Our life is wild and busy and full of fun and love. My partner and I are currently updating our home too- stay tuned! My passions include traveling, reading, seeing live music, trying new restaurants and creating. I also coach my sons' soccer teams and prioritize my time with friends and family- ask any of my girlfriends! I'm the queen of circling back and following up. Additionally, I come from a big family in St. Louis, and we have constant text threads going when we can't see each other regularly. Nothing matters more to me than my people.
My love of design and architecture began as a child. My grandmother owned an antique store in St. Louis, which I’d visit often. I also frequently shopped estate sales with her in some of the most beautiful homes I’ve ever seen. I remember wanting to bottle up this specific feeling: familiar and nostalgic, yet glamorous and bold. This inspiration-seeking followed me into my adult years. While undergoing a remodel on a previous home of mine years ago, I was encouraged to explore interior design as a career. At that time, I had been a stay at home mom for 8 years. It took some convincing that I had a talent worth exploring, but once I dove in I didn't look back. A couple years later, my business and interests grew into adding Licensed General Contractor to my resume; I excel at managing, collaborating and leading, and projects thoroughly go smoother when I'm in charge from beginning to end.
Along the way, I realized a necessary catalyst for my artistry is immersing myself in other cultures and bringing home what resonates, both figuratively and literally. Over the last few years I've been to New Mexico, Colombia, New Orleans, France and Mexico, and next up are New York, Round Top, Texas and Morocco. This travel has fueled my first product design line, a collection of candle holders, which you can find in the Extraordinary Things Store in the main menu. They're inspired by a lamp post in Paris in the Place de la Concorde that I simply could not stop thinking about. Without a doubt, my creativity needs unlimited freedom and variety to maintain its passion and energy.
The biggest compliment I could receive is that what I do exudes innovation and originality. Every single project is personal and unique to both me and each client I have the privilege to work with, and I'm extremely proud of that.
