How to Stop Mold in its Tracks

Wherever there’s moisture, there’s the potential for mold. You want to address it immediately too, as it can be a hazardous and expensive issue to take care of if left unchecked. If you discover fuzzy-textured stains that are brown, black or green, you can be fairly certain you’ve got mold.

Here are tips below to avoid and deal with it:

  1. If you spot water damage, let it dry out for 1-2 days using dehumidifiers and fans.

  2. Fill a spray bottle with vinegar, and spray it directly on mold.  Let it sit for an hour before scrubbing it off with a wire brush.

  3. Have your HVAC inspected and cleaned by a professional.

  4. Don't let children help with the mold cleanup.

  5. Don’t patch or paint mold.

  6. If you find mold in multiple places of a room, time to call in the experts.
