Feng Shui Your Way to a Good Night’s Sleep
Whew, that restorative sleep seems to be getting more elusive the older I get. I find myself increasingly sensitive to noise, temperature, light, clutter. The traditional Chinese approach of Feng Shui contends that if you follow certain principles, you will be able to achieve balance, peace and harmony in your space- exactly what we’re looking for, right? Then, in turn, you’ll experience improved mental and physical energy. Let’s explore what those principles are:
Position your bed so you can see the door, but don’t have your feet directly facing the door.
Invest in a sturdy headboard, which symbolizes protection and strength.
No mirrors facing the bed.
Clear out the clutter so chi can flow freely.
Pay attention to symmetry on either side of the bed.
What do you think? BS or something to it? Either way, reading up on Feng Shui inspired some of my own tips:
Remove all electronics from the room if possible.
Place phones on airplane mode.
Use a sound machine.
Use only Himalayan salt lamp for light and/or blue light glasses in the evening.
No screen time at least an hour before bed.
Now I just need to follow all my own tips consistently! So what do you think? Can you “feel” when the energy is off the bedroom and something needs to be done to create the soothing sanctuary we all want?
