Spring 2024: Trends Straight from Milan

The recent Salone del Mobile event in Milan, Italy has captured my attention and I’ll tell you why. If you’ve been following along in my stories, you know we’re laying down this stunning hand-cut cotto flooring from Zia Tile in a home in Chicago. It’s full-on Spanish Revival, which thrills me. Using it in a kitchen would be a dream come true. We’re also creating an unexpected space that’s both relaxing/interactive and functional. (Stay tuned for updates on this project!) Both of these ideas have been splashed all over my social media feeds straight from Milan. As for the other Italian trends I’ve come across and haven’t explored, I’m incredibly curious about this use of colored glass and sculptural furniture.

My official list of the latest kitchen design trends:

  1. Natural elements like Terracotta

  2. The convergence of functionality and interaction/relaxation

  3. Colored glass

  4. Sculptural furniture

  5. Customization without losing practicality

  6. Built-in bars

See that built-in bar in the back there?

I’m here for it all.
