Overmantels: Perfecting the TV Mirror
A mirror which doubles as a TV? Tell me more!
I recently came across the British company Overmantels when I was researching where to tastefully place a TV in a small hybrid family-living room. I desperately wanted to avoid hanging it above the fireplace or on a mounted swivel arm on the wall. I wanted it to blend into the room and not be a design focal point. A floating credenza was another option, but this TV mirror stood out for me: These mirrors are designed with a special glass that allows you to see the TV when it’s on. That very TV disappears when not in use. Brilliant, right?
Here’s the website for you to peruse:
Some pros of Overmantels:
Beautiful picture and sound quality
No glares
Various design styles to choose from
International shipping
Wire-free installation
Fantastic, attentive customer service
Any devices can be connected to the TV, i.e. gaming systems and DVD players, etc.
A couple cons:
You have to buy the TV separately and the mirror requires an LED TV
It takes 10-12 weeks to ship from the UK
Kinda pricey
Do I think this TV is worth a closer look? Absolutely. It checks a few very important boxes for homeowners. I’ve also spoken with customer service, which truly is exceptional, commutative, and professional, and I was offered a designer trade account of 15% off, which I will extend to all my interested clients.
