Pulling Together the Perfect Guest Room

Got visitors coming to town? I just hosted my brother and his girlfriend from San Diego, and gave myself a little refresher on how to make them comfortable and wanting to come back. I included my tips for creating the perfect guest room below:

1. It should feel personal, so more B&B than hotel. Candles and plants can help create that homey feel.

2. Similar to a powder room, you can be artistically brave here with your design preferences.

3. Make it flexible; double it as an office. Use a pull out couch. Guests won’t be staying all the time, so keep it functional.

4. Comfort is key; extra seating, a quality mattress, enough pillows and extra blankets.

5. The little things matter; a place for luggage, room in the closet, water pitcher, glasses and magazines, towels and fresh toiletries.

What’s been your best experience staying with friends and family? Did they include anything I missed? Let me know by commenting below or sending me an email via my contact page.
