What Design Trends to Kick to the Curb This Year

First of all, I hate trends. I see them as the ultimate form of self betrayal! Originality and how a space makes you feel are the most important factors. If you only buy what you love and that resonates with you and your life, you can never go wrong.

I wrote a blog earlier this week about design predictions for the new year, so it seems fitting to also talk about what to leave behind:

  1. Open floor plans- one word: boundaries.

  2. Minimalistic, sterile kitchens - what we want is warmth and a lived-in look.

  3. White everything - thank God!

  4. Dupes- another opportunity to support original artisans.

  5. Matching everything - eclectic, authentic spaces are IN!

I’ll leave you with a photo of what I hope to see more of this year. This is a 3D image of a basement remodel design I’m working on.

What do you think? Ready to see that list of 5 out the door?
