What Will the Design World Bring in 2023?

I’m thrilled to read about the design shifts predicted by vendors and experts alike for the upcoming year. In a sentence, expect to see much more of the following : eco-friendly materials, tons of green, a throwback to the 1980’s, gold, and artisan sourcing.

What does this mean? Essentially, bringing the outside in and moving in the direction of original and vintage.

In short, here are the 6 key trends I’ve come across:

  1. Sustainability

  2. Plants

  3. Patterned Wallpaper

  4. Bold, jewel-toned hues

  5. Wood, bronze, plaster

  6. Vintage and Antiques

As a designer, I look forward to encouraging clients to layer more patterns and sway them toward gold and bronze metal finishes. Further, sourcing materials from craftsmen personally and scaling back from big box store purchasing is incredibly exciting, not to mention better for the environment.
